Jung Hur grew up in Seoul, South Korea. He studied traditional Korean brush technique and earned BA and MFA degrees in painting from Hongik University. Hur later opened and operated his own painting school in Seoul. In 1998, Hur moved to New York City. In 2008, he moved to Portland, Maine.
In Fall 2016, Hur was featured in “In this Realm” in the Lunder Gallery at the Maine College of Art’s Institute of Contemporary Art. In addition to his solo exhibitions in Korea, Hur’s recent solo show venues also include the White Box Gallery in NYC, the Art Gallery at the University of Maine at Farmington, E Moderne Gallerie in Philadelphia, Spread in Portland, Maine, the Owen Gallery at Gould Academy in Bethel, and the Corey Daniels Gallery in Wells, Maine.
